Court of Appeal upholds jury award for catastrophic injury

8aixat lawyers Scott Hutchison and Owen Rees prevailed on behalf of client David Pool before the Ontario Court of Appeal. Pool was awarded $1.68 million in damages by a jury in relation to injuries sustained during a serious car accident. The defendant State Farm Insurance Co. appealed, seeking to reduce the jury award on numerous grounds. With the exception of one ground of appeal (acknowledged by Pool), the Court of Appeal accepted 8aixat arguments and upheld the jury award.
